SHAKESPEARE

Written Commentary:

David is back, sort of...as back as he can be!
He hasn't been in many things over the past year or so because finding a time that we can hang out became very hard with all of his other activities he takes part in. Most of these times he and I are just hanging out having a good time, but we do come up with shorts. So this has been a long time coming.
The idea for this came about based on sort of true events. David and I went to our schools production of "Twelfth Night" and when he picked me up we started doing this as if it was some sort of "off the hook" (as the kids say) rock concert or something.
I would constantly tell him that we needed to turn that into something. Originally it was to be a two shot short where he pulls up picking me up and then we do our thing.
On the day of shooting, David came up with the idea of leading in with the beginning that is featured in the short. I had no problem with this. It was shot at the local Recreational Center, the same place we shot a scene in "The Hand" and it went terribly. This time it went over pretty smooth. There were some annoying kids in the end, but other than that it went just fine.
The scene in the car was impossible. We couldn't get that perfect angle...you know until we got the perfect angle. The camera would fall over when we were driving so instead we had to park the car and fake it, which it being night really helped. And with the help of sound editing, it worked out great. David's little intro was the last thing we shot. But we actually had to shoot it twice. By the time we had got around to it, it was pitch black and it's hard to put that in there like that when it jumps back to bright right after. So 5 months later on the set of "Marriage" we finally got that last short and edited it all together.
I had a much darker way to end it. Where we walk up to the doors and they are locked for another hour and then one of us takes out a bottle of pills saying, "This will help us pass the time" and then it cuts to us over dosing on the ground. David figured it would be better if we didn't do that and keep it a little bit more light hearted. Good call David.
In my opinion, this one didn't turn out so good. It's kind of funny. But not one I'd talk up a bunch.
