My new comedy short "Conquest" has made it's debut. YOU CAN WATCH THAT HERE!!!
So far, it has gone over pretty well with the people who have seen it. It's probably the most quoted thing I've ever come out with and this is after a day.
However, the film is not going over so well with me. There are a lot of technical errors that have infuriated me. There is of course the fact that I was unable to export this video in 1080p so it was down graded to 720p, But worse than this, somewhere along the line between exporting the video and a finished upload to YouTube, it looks horribly compressed. The color correction I did is sucked out of it, the audio is worse than it was before. This is not the way it showed it to me in iMovie. This isn't the way it plays using the Quicktime file. So it's obviously something wrong with YouTube. Every time it's something new that they screw up and it pisses me off. The blame can't be shifted entirely to them though, I obviously don't understand how these things work.
Good things about Conquest are the writing, the cinematography is good and I think we did fairly well with acting excluding some bits form Kevin and I.
If anything, Conquest has been yet another learning experience for me. That no matter how hard I try, I can't be great at everything I do. There are aspects that I need to leave in the hands over others because I am too inexperienced and don't understand how they work. I really want to branch out and maybe start a bit of a creative team with other people who actually know what they're doing in the fields that I don't. But that would be far away from now. I don't get to be around many people regularly, much less film people who would have the same sense of humor and levels of interest as me.
So I'm not sure if I even made sense. But this was my thoughts. I just need to improve and work harder to maybe better myself.
I should have some good news relatively soon. At least I hope so.
